Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in your shoe!
Old - something to link the Bride to her old life
New - usually the wedding dress, represents good fortune and success in the Bride's new life.
Borrowed - something another Bride has worn to her wedding to bring good luck to the marriage.
Blue - in biblical times the colour blue represented purity and fidelity.
A Sixpence is worn in the Bride's left shoe as a symbol of wealth.

Planning Basics
|
A mode of transport is usually required to get to the church/registry office/Civil Ceremony venue unless the Bride is getting ready at the venue itself. Transport will be required for the Bride and the Father of the Bride, the Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride as well as the Groom and Best Man. Many people hire a professionally driven chauffeur car which will either be a classic car such as a Rolls Royce, a Prestige car such as a Mercedes or a Limousine which can use up a fair chunk of the budget and can range from anything up to £500 depending on the type of car and amount of hire time required.
Great money saving ideas:
Hire just one car for the Bride and Bridesmaids (if the venue is not too far away the Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride can be taken in one trip and then the car can go back for the Bride and Father of the Bride).
Consider asking a friend with a nice car to act as chauffeur for the Bride. The car can be decorated the day before with ribbon.
The Groom and Best Man can be driven in a friend's car decorated with ribbon to keep in with the wedding theme.
If marrying and holding the reception at the same venue a car will not be necessary after the wedding ceremony saving on the amount of time the car is hired for. |

The exchanging of rings is part of the wedding ceremony and dates back to Egyptian times where the unending circle of the ring was a symbol of eternity and undying love. In Britain and some Western countries the Wedding ring is traditionally worn on the fourth finger of the left hand, which reportedly contains the Vena Amoris "Vein Of Love". This vein is believed to travel from the finger straight to the heart. The wedding ring signifies Love, Commitment, Fidelity, Eternity and Honour.
